Circuit BLEU BLANC BOUGE

A virtual run in support of underprivileged youth in Greater Montreal

The Circuit BLEU BLANC BOUGE is a virtual run benefitting the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation that will be held from Monday, June 22 to Sunday, June 28, 2020. Our goal? To walk or run – virtually together, but physically apart – a combined trail of 2,044 kilometres, connecting all 13 BLEU BLANC BOUGE rinks spread across Quebec.

Registration fees and additional donations will be used to purchase 4,000 active kits that will be distributed this summer to underprivileged children from the 8 BLEU BLANC BOUGE communities in Greater Montreal. Each kit will contain sports and protective equipment that kids can use to practise individual sporting activities, in order to encourage local youth to rediscover the joys of a healthier and more active lifestyle after several months of confinement.

What is a virtual run?

Our virtual run will take place during the entire last week of June, giving you the flexibility to choose a date, time and place that work best for you to cover the number of kilometres you have set as a goal for yourself. It’s also a great opportunity to put your running shoes on and to challenge yourself in a way that is beneficial for both your mental and physical health, all while supporting the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation!

How can I participate? You can walk, jog or run a distance of 2 km, 5 km, 10 km or more, alone, with your family or friends, on your own schedule and at your own pace! You are free to complete your challenge all at once, or to break down the total distance over several days throughout the week.

Where? Anywhere! A virtual run can be completed at the location of your choice, whether in your neighborhood, on a hike or even on a treadmill — as long as you always stay 2 metres away from other runners and walkers and follow the advice of your local public health authority, to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe!

A few safety tips:

  • Complete your race solo or with someone who lives in your household.
  • Adhere to social distancing practices and always stay at least 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people.
  • Run or walk in locations that you are familiar with and that you consider safe, and avoid areas with a high density of cars, bicycles or pedestrians.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather and make sure you are visible at all times, for instance by wearing bright-colored clothing or reflective accessories, especially if you go running when it’s dark out.

  • If you’re planning to run a longer route, make sure to bring water or snacks in sufficient amounts.
  • Carry a cellphone with you during your virtual run and inform someone of the route you’re running in case of an emergency.
  • If you have to cough or sneeze during your trot, cover your mouth and nose with the inside of your elbow to reduce the spread of germs and viruses.
  • Once your challenge is over, wash your hands with soap under warm running water for at least 20 seconds when you come in from outside.
