Quebec climber and conqueror of the Everest Gabriel Filippi, along with attorney and tax consultant Pascal Thidodeau will lead two major expeditions heading for the highest peak in North America and the world’s tallest mountain. The idea behind this unique climbing adventure that will get underway in the spring of 2009 comes from the organizer’s desire to help underprivileged children. All proceeds will benefit the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
The first expedition will take place from March 15 to April 4, 2009 when Gabriel Filippi will take a group of participants through the trek leading to the base camp of the Everest before continuing his quest for the highest peak in the world on his own. The project will resume with a second expedition featuring another group of climbers with the objective of reaching the top of the Aconcagua.
The Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation provides help and support to children in need. Since its inception In August 2000, the Foundation has donated upwards of $7 million to over 350 charitable endeavors from across the province of Quebec who help underprivileged children. The Foundation is determined, more than ever, to help offer a brighter future and good health to underprivileged children, and is committed to encourage and foster a healthy and active lifestyle among youth.
Individuals and corporations who wish to register to take part in either one of these two expeditions can do so by logging on to the web site www.gabrielfilippi.com. Donations can also be sent by mail at: Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation, 1260 De La Gauchetière St., West, Montreal, QC, H3B 5E8.
